Jim Bruce is a Mixed Media Visual Artist, Photographer, and Writer. He has received formal training in figurative sculpture, and is an alumnus of the Vermont Studio Center, Carving Studio, and International Encaustic Conference.
Jim is an accomplished juried artist who has traveled the globe in pursuit of art and inspiration. His chosen genres and mediums are broadly eclectic, and inspired by a variety of artistic styles.
Jim's work can be characterized as symbolist in nature, and through this process he explores the depths of his earliest psychological experiences. Themes of Hermeticism, mysticism, grief, desire, and passion are central features in his creative journey.
Jim’s Primary artistic influences are rooted in such artists such as Willem De Kooning, Auguste Rodin, Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Camille Claudelle, Alberto Giacometti and Jeff Koons.
Influential Poets include Pablo Neruda, Leonard Cohen, and Vermont's Galway Kinnell to name a few.
Jim lives and works in magical Vermont with his lovely wife Susan.
